Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy, Australian Institute of Family Counselling (AIFC) Canberra. ACT, 2009.
- Level 2 Australian Counselling Association Member.
I am a qualified Counsellor with an Advanced Diploma of Counselling and Family Therapy. I have been counselling for the previous eight years, after working in a medical administrative capacity prior to that time.
I have a special interest in carer counselling, having worked in this area previously at Intereach and currently through Carer Gateway. I understand that as a carer it’s normal to feel overwhelmed and stressed from time to time. In my counselling sessions I look at how clients can find some relief from these feelings, and help them make the challenges they face seem more manageable.
I also provide NDIS counselling support (Therapeutic supports under Capacity Building) to participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. I aim to help empower people to maintain their level of independence and support them in achieving their own personal goals.
I always strive to offer an empathic environment and a listening ear. The most important thing for me is to develop trust and rapport with my clients as we discuss the issues/problems affecting them, respecting each individual’s uniqueness in a setting that is compassionate and non-judgemental.
